Entry Requirements

Candidates should have:
(a) a Diploma or Higher Diploma or Associate Degree Certificate in surveying, real estate or equivalent from a local university, polytechnic, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education or a technical institute/technical college, or equivalent;
(b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 [Note (1)] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent;
(c) be proficient in using Computer-Aided Design software, database software, video and photo-editing tools; and
(d) at least one year’s relevant hands-on working experience in surveying.

Remarks
(1) For non-civil service appointment purpose, “Grade E” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 2” in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(2) Successful candidate(s) may be required to work outdoor, in irregular hours and on public holidays.
 

Duties

Successful candidate(s) will be deployed to the sections/offices in the Planning and Lands Branch of the Development Bureau to undertake the following duties (Note 2):
(a) provide technical support including conducting site visits/surveys, background and topical researches/reviews, data collection, compiling and analysing survey data, managing information systems and records, and maintaining/updating the photo inventory and other relevant inventories of the office;
(b) prepare plans/sketches/presentations for illustration of proposals and other information in papers/reports, meetings and forums by computer software and photo-editing tools;
(c) manage computer hardware, software and all databases to facilitate office operation and smooth application of computer equipment, electronic devices, conference system and audio-visual system;
(d) co-ordinate technical tasks on planning and engineering with government departments and external parties such as consultants; and
(e) perform any other duties assigned as appropriate.

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidate(s) will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for an initial period of one year.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

$21,310 per month
(a) 14 days paid annual leave in respect of each leave year will be granted for employment under a continuous contract for not less than 12 months.

(b) The benefits in respect of rest days, statutory holidays, maternity leave or paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance and confirmed at the time of the offer of appointment.

(c) A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period with consistently high standard of performance. The amount of gratuity payable will be the sum which, when added to the Government’s contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, equals 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.

General Notes

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau's Internet Website (http://www.csb.gov.hk).

Completed application forms, TOGETHER with (1) copies of relevant certificates and transcript in support of academic qualifications, (2) copies of employment proof should reach the enquiry address indicated below on or before the closing date for application with the envelope clearly marked “Application for the position of Assistant Project Officer (Survey)”.

The postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of submission of application.
