Entry Requirements

Candidates should –
(a) either have a degree in Accountancy from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent; or be a registered student of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants Qualification Programme, or equivalent;
(b) have Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [see Note].
(c) have at least 3 years’ post qualification full-time working experience in accounting, auditing or related fields; and
(d) possess good oral and written communication skills in both Chinese and English.
Remarks
For appointment purpose, “Grade C” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 3” in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
 

Duties

Successful candidates are mainly deployed to perform general accounting and related duties, such as reviewing annual financial reports and financial statements, arranging payments, handling revenue collections, preparing cashflow forecasts and accounting/financial reports, monitoring budgets, carrying out accounting inspections, conducting annual surplus assessment and financial vetting of tenderers/concerned organizations and providing accounting advice to users.

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for 12 months. The offer of further appointment beyond the existing contract is subject to the service need and the satisfactory performance and conduct of the appointee. The successful candidate may be required to work overtime and irregular hours.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

HK$26,990 per month
(1) The benefits in respect of rest days, statutory holidays, annual leave, maternity/paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions in the Employment Ordinance.

(2) The appointees will be subject to the provisions of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance and will be required to make employee’s contributions to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme. A gratuity may be granted if the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, when added to the Government’s contributions to the MPF Scheme, will be equivalent to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.

General Notes

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates together with the application form and the required documents to the contact address.

Candidates should provide a detailed account of their academic attainment (including gradings of all subjects taken in public examinations from secondary education onwards) and professional qualifications in the application forms. (a) A detailed description of duties of all full-time employments, in particular, the working experience in accounting, auditing or related fields; and

(b) copies of (i) HKDSEE/HKCEE results; (ii) official transcripts and certificates of academic qualifications; (iii) certificates and examination status reports of professional qualifications; and (iv) documentary proof of relevant working experience.
